Lewis Nash Day in Phoenix
It was 26 years ago when jazz drummer Lewis Nash got his big break.
The 49-year-old Phoenix native was studying at Arizona State University when renowned jazz vocalist Betty Carter hired him to tour and record with her band in New York City.
Now, two solo CDs and dozens of performances later, Nash received local recognition Thursday when Mayor Phil Gordon proclaimed it "Lewis Nash Day." -- [ The Arizona Republic
